Officer Anderson self-dispatched himself to a medical call he heard the Fire Department and FM Paramedics being sent to.  Upon arrival, he assumed CPR responsibilities from the victim’s adult son and requested an automated external defibrillator (AED).  Sergeant Kostohryz arrived with the AED and administered a shock to the victim and assisted with CPR compressions.  Fire and paramedics arrived and administered another shock to the victim.  A pulse was re-established prior to transport to the hospital.

The immediate actions of the victim’s son were also recognized through a Police Department Citizen Recognition Award.  As a direct result of all the necessary immediate emergency actions taken, the victim survived and was present at the awards ceremony.
