On February 18, 2012, at 1:15 pm, Officer Kostohryz was the first officer to respond to a call at the railroad bridge in the area of 1st Avenue South and 21st Street South. A woman at that location had called into the Red River Regional Dispatch Center and threatened to jump from the bridge onto 21st Street below. Upon arrival Officer Kostohryz observed a woman begin to climb over the safety rail of the bridge and took immediate and decisive action to intervene, restrain the woman, and get her transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Officer Kostohryz exhibited the highest standards of the police profession and provided an opportunity for reconsideration and reflection.
