Build an Emergency Kit During National Preparedness Month

Build a basic emergency supply kit or have supplies you need in case of an emergency. Here are some things you can do this week:

 

  • Build a basic emergency supply kit. Get the whole family involved with kid friendly instructions.
  • Keep a radio and extra batteries handy to listen for directions from local officials if you lose power.
  • Here are 10 tips to prepare for a power blackout.
  • During an extended power outage, ATMs and credit card machines may not work. Include extra money in your emergency kit.
  • Have an adequate water supply available.
  • Prepare for emergencies while traveling or staying in a hotel.
