The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Moorhead for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2019.
An impartial panel at GFOA judged that the City's financial report met the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the City's financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
Moorhead City Manager Dan Mahli said, "Hats off to our finance staff and all City team for working together to openly share our financial information with the public. Transparency in government is key to an open, trusting relationship with our residents, and this award recognizes that service leadership."
GFOA said the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
