At approximately 11:15 p.m. Monday evening, a Moorhead Police Officer patrolling on Main Avenue observed an altercation occurring in the Walgreen’s parking. MICHAEL COLEMAN BROWN (44 year old from Moorhead) was observed holding a machete and hammer. After complying with commands to drop the weapons, Brown continued to be agitated and tore his shirt off. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Charles Richard Schoen (35 year old from Hendrum) was also present at the scene and reported to have been assaulted by Michael Brown after they arrived at this location in the same vehicle. Schoen indicated that he had been struck in the left side of his neck by the machete and a bat used by Brown. Schoen had a cut several inches long on the left side of his neck that was bleeding lightly. Schoen was transported by FM Ambulance to the Sanford hospital where he received medical treatment and later released.
Brown was transported to the Clay County Jail where he is being held pending a Long Form Complaint through the Clay County Attorney’s Office for appropriate Felony level charges once all reports are completed and reviewed.
