On September 5, 2023 at approximately 10:26 pm, the City of Moorhead Police Department responded to a report of motor vehicle crash and a possible impaired driver in the 600 block of Highway 75 North. The single vehicle involved had entered the east ditch in the 700 block of Highway 75 North striking a light pole and a traffic control sign. The vehicle then crossed Highway 75 North traveling west along 7 Avenue North before striking an unoccupied commercial storage building in the 2100 block of 7 Avenue North.
The driver, Scott Hanson (54) of Moorhead, was the lone occupant. Hanson was medically treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital. Hanson sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the cause of the crash and the investigation is ongoing. Criminal charges will be requested for Hanson by long-form complaint upon completion of the investigation.
