Police Investigate Stabbing Incident

Post Date:03/27/2017 5:53 pm

At 3:54 PM on March 27th, Moorhead officers were called to an assault involving a knife near the parking lot of M&H.  The first officers on scene detained a group of individuals.  One female in the group indicated she had been “stabbed” by a suspect and provided a description.   The female had a cut that required medical attention and she was released from the hospital.  Another Moorhead officer located a male that matched the description provided.  He was detained and interviewed.  He admitted that he was in an altercation but indicated he acted in self-defense.

The male was transported to the jail and held for assault in the second degree.  The investigation would help officers determine who the primary aggressor was.  The investigation found that the parties knew one another and that the female who had been cut refused to cooperate and provide a recorded statement to investigators.  Without a victim’s statement, the subject being held was released.  The investigation will remain open as all parties involved may be subject to charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.    The public’s safety is not at risk.
