Country Club Area - Flood Project Update

Construction of the floodwall along North River Drive, which began in 2013, is substantially complete with some final grading and seeding remaining. Over this past winter, the City has been working on the final phase of flood mitigation for your neighborhood. The final improvements will mitigate the potential for flooding on the “dry” side of the levees and floodwall during heavy rainfall events. For this purpose, the City has identified two additional projects intended to provide increased storm sewer outfall capacity at two locations along North River Drive.

  • The first project consists of installing a new gated storm sewer outfall just off the north end of the newly constructed floodwall near the intersection of North River Drive and Miller Drive. The bid for this project was awarded by the City Council on May 27, 2014 and construction will begin in the coming weeks.
  • The second project consists of replacing the existing storm sewer outfall located just north of the Moorhead Country Club No. 10 tee box with a larger capacity gated storm sewer outfall and a new stormwater pumping station. The bid for this project is anticipated to be awarded in July with construction beginning in early August.

Both of these projects are scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2015. When complete, the City is planning to submit an application to FEMA for accreditation of the flood mitigation projects in your neighborhood. If approved, the area protected by these projects would be removed from the 100-year floodplain sometime in late 2015 or early 2016.
