Post Date:05/12/2025 7:00 pm

Congratulations to Migdalia Caballero Medina! On May 12, 2025, the Moorhead City Council and Mayor Shelly Carlson presented her with the MoorHeart award.

Migdalia is committed to promoting equity, building healthy families, and creating inclusive opportunities for all. Her dedication to fostering representation and supporting families displays the love of the community she has. Migdalia encourages everyone in Moorhead to embrace diversity, support their neighbors, and work together to build a stronger, more inclusive community. Migdalia’s nomination includes the following statement:

“Migdalia is a standout member of our community, deeply committed to promoting equity and fostering healthy families. Her impactful work at CAPLP includes advocating for early childhood education and educating others about the importance of equity and representation. As a navigator for the Friends and Families program, she provides essential support and guidance to those in need. Beyond her professional role, Migdalia is actively engaged in her heritage and volunteers with CASA, demonstrating her dedication to empowering communities.

Her tireless efforts make her an exemplary candidate for the MoorHeart Award. Migdalia is always willing to support different community functions and comes with a positive attitude and an infectious smile.”

For all Migdalia does for Moorhead and especially for the way her dedication to fostering equity and strengthening families impacts the community -- efforts like these do not go unnoticed or without thanks – the MoorHeart selection committee chose Migdalia to receive the MoorHeart Award. Migdalia is a great example of the MoorHeart spirit. Congratulations to Migdalia for her dedication to making Moorhead a more equitable and inclusive place for everyone.

The MoorHeart award is an opportunity to recognize individuals who go above and beyond to demonstrate community within our City by their actions and service. A team of volunteers from city boards and commissions selects award recipients. The MoorHeart award is commemorated with a piece of art commissioned from local artist Dennis Krull especially for this purpose.

Information on nominating individuals/organizations for the MoorHeart award can be found at www.moorheadmn.gov (search for MoorHeart Award). Contributions large and small are worthy of nomination!
