On October 8, 2021 at 10:50 PM the Moorhead Police Department responded to area of 14 Street and 16 Avenue South for a single vehicle crash. A witness indicated a person was lying next to the vehicle with possible injuries.
There was significant private property damage in addition to disabling damage to the vehicle. The crash investigation showed speed and alcohol were contributing factors. The driver was identified as 18 year old Devon Karau of Moorhead. He was later transported to Sanford Hospital by ambulance for non-life threating injuries.
Karau was left in the care of the hospital with formal charges being requested through the Moorhead City Attorney’s Office for 4th Degree DWI, reckless driving, possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of a facsimile firearm and driving after revocation.
The Moorhead Police Department was assisted by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Moorhead Fire Department and Sanford Ambulance.
