Questions and Answers relating to RFP NUMBER 2024-NS1 - Request for Quotes - Building Demolition:

Q: Is soil and compaction testing required?

A: No

Q: Are there seeding requirements?

A: No

Q: Is the garage part of the demolition?

A: No

Q: Will the fence be removed?

A: No, unless a portion needs to be removed to accommodate the house demolition. Any fence portions removed will need to be replaced.

Q: Are the miscellaneous items in the yard to be removed with the demolition?

A: No, they are not to be removed, but can be moved aside to accommodate the demolition.

Q: Will a bid bond be required?

A: No.

Q: Are any other documents/license/ COI etc. required upon submitting a proposal, or is the only required document required at that time be Exhibit A: Quotation Form?

A: Exhibit A is all that is required for initial submittal.  As noted on Exhibit A, the noted insurance certificates are required within 10 days of notice of award.

Q: Has the electrical been disconnected?

A: MPS Electric has noted that electric has been cut at the pole.

Q: Is there a gas service for this residence? If so, will the city cover costs associated with the disconnect?

A: Unknown. A utility locate call should be completed prior to starting demolition work.  If a disconnect is required, the cost will be covered with the demolition.

Q: The sidewalk on the south side leading up to the south side of the residence. Will that remain or part of removal?

A: No, the sidewalk leading up to the home should remain as-is.

Q: Will the County require separation of materials for the landfill?

A: From Kent Severson, Clay County Env Health Director – Because the house will need to come down without sorting of materials, the debris can not be brought to the demolition landfill, and must be brought to the sanitary landfill as mixed loads.  As you are collecting the debris to haul, please pick out major appliances, such as refrigerators, tv’s, water heaters, furnace, etc.  You can bring these appliances to the Landfill separately, and not in part of the mixed loads.

Q: Is there a separate permit for capping sewer and water services?

A: No, but the contractor should plan to disconnect the water service near the curb stop. MPS Water Division will inspect following disconnect.

Q: Will there be a City staff person available for any questions about the Court Order or other communications?

A: Yes
