On December 25, 2021 at 5:00 AM the Moorhead Police Department responded to a disturbance with a gun. Officers were able to identify a crime scene at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of 20 Street South. A spent shell casing and other evidence was collected at the scene. A firearm was not recovered at the scene.
The victim sustained minor injuries that were consistent with assaultive behavior prior to the shooting. Those injuries did not require immediate medical attention. The suspect and victim are known to each other and this was not a random event.
The department is actively investigating and following up on leads. There is no indication there is an ongoing threat to public safety at this point in time. Due to the active investigation there is no additional information to release at this time.
