Buying a home is more affordable than you might think! In Moorhead, our down payment assistance and below-market interest rate financing programs are available to help first-time home buyers. Home Improvement Programs
If you already live in Moorhead, you'll find a number of funding options to update, improve or repair your home:

  • Minnesota Fix Up Fund and the Community Fix Up Fund: Offered by local lenders in partnership with Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, these funds have varying interest rates, usually below market.

  • City of Moorhead Home Rehabilitation Loan: This no-interest loan program, available for income-eligible homeowners, requires no repayment until the owner moves from the home.

Homestead Tax Credit
Minnesota values homeownership! Property taxes on owner-occupied homes are reduced through a Homestead Tax Credit of up to $304, depending on the property value of the home. To apply for the Homestead Tax credit download the application form.
