The mission of the Parks and Recreation Department is to improve the quality of life for Moorhead citizens by providing a comprehensive system of parks, recreation, cultural, and human service programs that encourage health, fitness, relaxation, and cultural enrichment, as well as providing opportunities for conservation, education, and community involvement.

Parks and Recreation manages a wide variety of programming, facilities, and park land. The City of Moorhead boasts 46 parks, miles of trails and sidewalks, and a variety of facilities.

Weather-Related Information

February 7 - Warming houses at Hansmann, Lamb and Riverview Parks will be closing for day due to poor ice conditions. Rest of parks will remain open.


Cross Country Ski Trail Status

February 2 - Viking Ship Park was groomed.
Classic tracks are not to bad as well.

January 13 - MB Johnson Park was groomed.
Gooseberry Park was roll packed.


Bridge Status

Gooseberry/Lindenwood Parks: lowered and accessible

Memorial/Oak Grove Parks: lowered and accessible

Floating Bridge: removed for the season
