Voter Registration Lookup
If a resident is unsure whether they are registered to vote at their current address they can find out quickly and easily by going to the following website. A voter's registration remains current until the voter moves, changes their name, or does not vote for four consecutive years.

Absentee Voting
Beginning September 21, 2012 voters that are unable to get to their polling place for the Primary Election can vote by casting an absentee ballot.  In Minnesota, citizens are allowed to vote by absentee ballot for the following reasons:
  1. absent from the precinct
  2. illness or disability
  3. unable to go to the polling place due to a religious observance or belief
  4. service as an election judge in another precinct
The Clay County Auditor's Office handles absentee voting. Voters can contact the Auditor's office at 218.299.5006 or visit in person between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday) at the Clay County Courthouse (807 11 ST N).

Election Judges
Election judges are paid officials that staff local polling places, administer election procedures, and ensure that the rights of voters are protected on Election Day. Serving as an election judge provides an opportunity to learn about the elections process and is a great service to our community!

Duties performed by an election judge include:

  • set-up of the polling site
  • distribute and collect ballots
  • register new voters
  • help voters requiring assistance
  • record and certify vote totals
If interested, please contact the City Clerk's office at 218.299.5304 or use the contact form for additional information.
