Taxes & City Budgets
Moorhead's City
Council has final authority for adopting the City's annual budget-reflecting
Moorhead's priorities for the programs
and services the City provides-and establishing the property tax
levy.
Each real estate tax dollar collected in Moorhead is apportioned
to several government units. The City of Moorhead receives 24 cents
of each dollar you pay in real estate taxes.
Sources of City Revenue
Real estate taxes are one of the chief sources of revenue for the
City. In addition, the City of Moorhead receives funds from the
State of Minnesota in the form of local government aid and homestead
credits. Additional revenues are generated by other means, including
utility transfers, licenses, permit and service fees, interest earnings
and court fines.
Fund Allocations
Moorhead's 2010 city-wide expenditure budget is $60,518,673 with $19,102,265 budgeted for the General Fund.
