Motorists on Highway 75/8 St S between 40 and 50 Ave S will encounter lane shifts when a four-lane expansion project begins Tuesday, May 26, 2015 (weather permitting).
Highway 75/8 St will be expanded from just south of 40 Ave to just south of 46 Ave, and a new partial access will be constructed to the east at 44 Ave. In addition, crews will make storm sewer improvements in the ditch along the west side of the highway between 40 and 46 Ave and along the south side of 46 Ave between 6 and 8 St.
Highway 75/8 St will remain open to traffic in both directions, and the highway will always be accessible from 40 and 50 Ave. Access to and from 46 Ave will not be possible during certain phases of the project.
Speed limits on the highway will be reduced to 40 mph through the work zone. Motorists are reminded that violators will be fined a minimum of $300.
The project is a joint effort by the city of Moorhead and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Sellin Brothers of Hawley is the prime contractor for the $2.9 million project. Work is expected to be complete by early September.
