On Friday, August 27, 2021, at approximately 6:00 am, officers were notified of a stabbing that had occurred in the 300 block of 14 Avenue South in Moorhead. The adult male victim was stabbed in the leg and left the scene to seek medical treatment before the first responder's arrival. The male was later located and transported the Sanford Health for treatment, including surgery to repair an artery in his leg. Officers determined that that suspect and victim knew each other; however, this appears to be an unprovoked assault.
On Tuesday, August 31, 2021, officers from the Fargo Police Department located and arrested Garcia. He is currently being held in Cass County, ND, jail on probable cause for the stabbing in Moorhead. Reports are being filed with the Clay County Attorney's Office for the following felony charges: 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and Terrorist Threats.
No further suspects are being sought, and no additional information is available.
