Pickup Versus Motorcycle Crash

Motorcyclist transported by ambulance due to injuries sustained in the crash.

On Sunday, May 16, 2021, at approximately 4:15 pm, Officers were dispatched to the 2800 blk of 34th St. S. on a motor vehicle crash report between a pick-up truck and a motorcycle.

The crash investigation indicated a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Curtis Hirschkorn, age 73, of Moorhead, had been stopped on 28th Ave. S. and attempted to make a left turn to go southbound on 34th St. S. At the same time, a 2002 Honda CF4 motorcycle driven by Derek Schreiner, age 34, of Moorhead, was traveling northbound on 34th St., entering into the intersection. Hirschkorn failed to yield the right of way to Schreiner, and their vehicles collided in the intersection. 

Schreiner sustained serious injuries and was transported to Sanford Emergency Department by F-M Ambulance for medical treatment.   Hirschkorn was cited for failing to yield. 

The crash is still under investigation.
