On September 13, 2020 at 4:59 PM the Moorhead Police Department responded to 700 block of Highway 52 for an injury motor vehicle crash. There were several calls made to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center indicating a vehicle driving north bound crashed through construction barriers and came to a stop on top of a pile of steel beams and rebar.
Officers located a male driver inside the vehicle and confirmed there were no other occupants at the time of the crash. The driver refused medical treatment on scene. The vehicle and several lots of building material sustained significant damage. The crash investigation showed that speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
The driver was identified as 34 year old Lukas Ross Eggen of Fargo ND. Eggen was arrested and booked into the Clay County Jail on suspicion of 3rd Degree DWI in addition to other charges stemming from the crash investigation. The charges are being sent, via long form complaint to the Moorhead City Attorneys Office.
