Controlled Burn of Native Grasses at The Meadows Golf Course

Post Date:04/21/2020 3:46 pm

The Meadows Golf Course contains natural prairie grass plantings. Periodic burning of the prairie grasses promotes healthy plant life and culls undesirable plants. The City of Moorhead Fire Department has issued a burn permit to enable the Public Works Department to conduct small, contained maintenance burning of the prairie grasses.

The fires will be monitored while actively burning and will be conducted in a safe manner when wind conditions are low. The burn sites are on the golf course with a clear, natural break surrounding their locations. No grasses by houses will be burned and staff will be monitoring the situation while actively burning. Area residents may notice some smoke during this time.
