Moorhead Pursuit on 8th Street South

At 2:54 am, a Moorhead officer initiated a traffic stop on a PT Cruiser for a minor equipment violation at 8th St and I94. Instead of stopping, the vehicle increased speed, driving northbound on 8th St. The vehicle drove west on 18th Avenue and the driver exited the vehicle while it was slowing down at 7th Street, leaving it uncontrolled as it barely missed hitting a parked car and a boulevard tree. A passenger in the vehicle was detained and the driver was identified through the investigation by the officer. This pursuit lasted less than a minute and covered ten blocks. The driver will be charged through the Clay County Attorney's Office for Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing on Foot, Driving After Revocation and multiple moving violations. Another passenger is facing charges of fleeing on foot from the stop location.
