On 1/15/19 at 7:36PM, Officers were dispatched to Snarr Hall on the campus of Minnesota State University-Moorhead to take a stolen vehicle report. As officers were taking the report, another Moorhead Police Officer located the occupied stolen vehicle in the 1000blk of 18 ½ St. S. The vehicle attempted to flee from the officer but the suspect lost control while attempting to enter a parking lot in the 900 block of 18th St. S. The suspect fled from the vehicle, which rolled forward striking a tree behind an apartment in the area. The suspect was last seen running northeast from the vehicle. The suspect is described as a white male, last seen wearing a black jacket with a blue hooded sweatshirt. The owner of stolen vehicle reported he had left a loaded uncased 9mm handgun in the vehicle. The gun has not been recovered and its believed the suspect is in possession of it. Due to the proximity of the incident, both MSUM and Concordia were immediately notified of the situation. The Moorhead Police are asking for the public’s assistance with this investigation.
