Traffic Alert & Construction Update: SE Main|20 St|21 St Underpass Project
Ames completed the watermain installation along 4 Av and construction is underway on the new sanitary sewer.

Travel impacts as of August 16, 2018:
21 St from railroad tracks at SE Main Av Intersection to 4 Av S is reduced to one lane
Watermain relocation underway on the east side of 21 St, north of the railroad tracks
22 St S and 4 Av S from 21 St to 22 St S is closed
Underground utility work underway
Construction Progress:
Ames completed the watermain installation along 4 Av and construction is underway on the new sanitary sewer. Tree removal operations are complete north of the high school and practice fields. Sidewalk, tree, and adjacent pavement removal continue along 4 Av and in front of Whale Of A Wash and Mick’s Scuba. An alternate pedestrian access route is being installed to safely move pedestrians around the construction zone. The temporary signal at 4 Av and 34 St is operational.
Looking ahead:
Sanitary sewer along 4 Av will be completed in the near future. Installation of the two forcemains for the new pump station along 4 Av and 22 St will begin next week. Storm sewer installation south of 4 Av and 22 St will begin as well. Temporary signals will be installed along 1 Av S for the future detour. Trees will be removed south of Casey’s.
