Police Athletics League giving away Bikes for Kids

Post Date:05/24/2018 5:02 pm

The Moorhead Police Athletics and Activities League, in partnership with Moorhead Public Schools, is giving away four bicycles to students at Horizon Middle School tomorrow at 11:00 at the entrance to Horizon West. The Moorhead Police Department donated several unclaimed damaged bikes earmarked for public auction to the BIkes for Kids program through PAL. Scheels of Moorhead fixed these bikes to make them street worthy at little to no cost and also provided helmets for the kids at a discounted rate. Horizon Middle School teachers helped identify students that had a pressing need for bicycles for the summer so they could be distributed in time for the holiday weekend.

The Police Athletics League is a newly formed non-profit that is supported by the Moorhead Police Department and helps partner local law enforcement officers with area youth in positive ways to promote trust and reduce juvenile crime. The Bikes for Kids program is just one of many initiatives conducted through this all volunteer organization.

Questions about this program can be sent to the program director, Sgt. Scott Kostohryz, at 218-299-5283 or scott.kostohryz@moorheadpolice.com
