Moorhead Man Arrested after Threatening Neighbors with a Knife

On January 26, 2018, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Officers were sent to the 1800 Block of Belsly Blvd for a disturbance.  When they arrived, they learned a neighbor had entered the residence and threatened the occupants with a knife while looking for his girlfriend.  He forced her to go back to his residence.  Officers could hear yelling come from this residence and attempted to make contact.  The suspect slammed the door shut and the female opened it and ran out past the officers.  The male would not follow the officer's instructions and had to be tazed multiple times before they could get him in custody.

 The suspect has been identified as Jay Rurup (30) of Moorhead.  He is being held at the Clay County Jail on the following charges:

  1. 2nd Degree Assault (3 Counts) (Felony)
  2. Terroristic Threats (Felony)
  3. 1st Degree Burglary (Felony)
  4. Obstructing Legal Process (Gross Misdemeanor)
  5. Domestic Assault (Misdemeanor)
