NaCaria Mix, the missing 8 year old, was located safe in south Moorhead. We would like to thank local media outlets and citizens that provided assistance by publicly sharing information about the alert community wide.
A convenience store surveillance video showed NaCaria attempting to purchase a couple grocery items early this afternoon. An unidentified male customer graciously provided the clerk with a few dollars to help cover the costs of the items. NaCaria returned home with the groceries and went missing shortly afterwards. The Moorhead Police Department Facebook page was utilized to communicate the missing child alert, while additional officers and regional resources such as the CodeRed public alert system, C.A.R.T. (Child Abduction Response Team) and dogs from the Valley Dive Search and Rescue were activated.
A concerned Moorhead citizen that reportedly was aware of the child search through local media observed NaCaria walking on a sidewalk. She alerted officers that were able to safely return NaCaria home.
Community partnerships are very important in situations such as this and were greatly appreciated by this family today.
