On March 15, 2017, at approximately 10:42 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a fire at 804 24 Avenue South Apartment #1. An adult female was found inside and transported by ambulance to Sanford Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The official cause of death is still pending the final autopsy report. The victim has been identified as 58-year-old Billi Jo Larson. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's investigator has determined the cause of the fire to be an accident as a result of smoking materials in the bedroom.
