Injury Accident Sends One Man to the Hospital

The Other Driver Charged with Failure to Yield Right of Way

Post Date:11/04/2016 1:11 am

On November 3, 2016, at approximately 2050 hours, Officers were turning to go east on 30 Ave S from 8 St S, when they heard a crash behind them.  It appears the driver behind them failed to yield the right of way and crashed into a vehicle that was northbound on 8 St.  Both vehicles were towed away with extensive damage from the near head on collision.  The driver of the vehicle that was turning was cited for failing to yield the right of way.  She has been identified as Lily Holt (23) from Bismarck.  The other driver was from Karlstad, MN.  He was transported to Essentia Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The Moorhead Police Department would like to remind drivers that a flashing yellow arrow indicates you must yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and only turn when it is safe to do so.  There are several intersections controlled by the yellow flashing arrows in the new construction areas throughout the city.  For more information regarding these signals, please check out:  https://www.dot.state.mn.us/trafficeng/signals/flashingyellowarrow.html
