Live Burn Training will affect North Moorhead

4 homes will be burned 09/28/16 from 5-10pm

Post Date:09/27/2016 8:18 pm

Following three days of fire investigator training, four homes will be burned at 1002-1020 9 Ave N on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 5 - 10 pm. Winds are expected to push smoke from the fires south which may generate light to moderate smoke odors in neighborhoods south of this location.  Fire and smoke conditions may also prove distracting to drivers prompting a temporary detour of traffic on 11St N between 8 ½ Ave N and 10 Ave N.  The four homes will be burned one at a time until all four have been consumed.  Several road closures will be in effect for side streets and travel may be difficult in the area. People who are particularly sensitive to air quality issues should consider closing windows and/or temporarily turning off appliances that draw in and recirculate fresh outside air into their homes. These four homes were previously scheduled for demolition as part of the Clay County Courthouse Campus Expansion project.
