The Blue Goose Trail was part of the community vision for the Red River corridor as documented in the 2014 River Corridor Plan. This project is one of several river corridor projects that have been completed, are underway, or for which funds have been awarded since 2014, including:
- Heritage Gardens and Amphitheater of Moorhead at Woodlawn Park
- Park Shelter at MB Johnson Park (constructed in 2015)
- Audobon Society Urban Woods and Prairies Initiative at North River Drive and at Riverview Circle South
- Major enhancements to MB Johnson Park to be constructed in 2017 with a $1.3 million Minnesota Legacy Grant award
- Many more!
The Blue Goose Trail will be a wonderful recreation amenity for residents and visitors, linking Gooseberry Mound Park, Riverview Estates Park, and Bluestem Center for the Arts.
While MnDOT District 4 Transportation Alternative Program funding for the Blue Goose Trail is not scheduled until 2020, there may be opportunities to advance the construction schedule.
