Today, and in similar training exercises tomorrow and Wednesday, staff from the Fire Department, Police Department, Moorhead Public Service, F-M Ambulance and Red Rive Regional Dispatch Center (RRRDC) practiced response strategies if a hazardous material was released in the City. Firefighters rescued simulated victims who were treated and transported by F-M Ambulance. Police Officers simulated closing area streets to keep additional residents from entering the hazardous area while Haz-Mat Technicians with the Fire Department evaluated the release of product, took measurements in the area to identify the risks to neighborhoods and controlled the leak. Staff from RRRDC coordinated communications and simulated notifying residents through CodeRed, the free service that issues phone calls, text messages, and emails, providing valuable information and notification to residents in times of trouble.
We urge all residents to sign up for CodeRed today. It's free, and you control the type of messages you wish to receive. Go to www.cityofmoorhead.com\codered
