Celtic Festival

The 15th Annual Celtic Festival 2018 is a celebration of the rich culture of the seven Celtic Nations featuring the intriguing history, arts and traditions of Brittany, Cornwall, Isle of Man, Galicia, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Take in the sights, sounds and tastes of the Celtic heritage with dancing, music and authentic Celtic food. As you enter the festival you may hear the lyrical Celtic music played by great bands from the community and region. Fargo’s own Heather and Thistle Pipe and Drum Band will open the festivities with their traditional music. The McDonald School of Irish and International Dance will be returning. We will also have Guthrie School of Dance who will showcase Scottish (Highland Dance). Live music will include the button accordion, small pipes, and wire-strung harp as well as guitars, recorders and fiddles. Talented regional groups including Debi Rogers, Mikko and friends, Willow Brae, and Gail Johnson will fill the festival with lively entertainment for all.

In addition to all the great performances there will also be heritage presentations throughout the day. Children and adults alike can learn about traditions of the seven Celtic nations through hands-on activities and table displays. And if all the scheduled activities weren’t enough, there will also be authentic Celtic food including shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, colcannon mac and cheese, Irish stew, roasted root vegetables, soda bread, and bread pudding with caramel sauce.

All exhibits, performances and activities are free with the exception of an Activity Passport ($2). The Activity Passport is the key to many of the craft stations and once completed can be turned in for a prize.
