The water tower on the south side of Woodlawn Park will be repainted in the spring of 2018 as part of standard maintenance. The City of Moorhead, Moorhead Public Service, and the Moorhead Arts and Culture Commission are hosting a community forum on Thursday, January 25, 2018 to hear from the citizens, especially the residents of the Woodlawn neighborhood, as to what art or design element they would like to see painted on the tower.
In addition to this event, which is free and open to anyone, there is an online survey available through January 26.
Moorhead Public Service staff and the Design Committee (for this project) will be available at the community forum to facilitate the discussion and answer any questions about the project.
The water tower in the Oakport neighborhood went through a similar community engagement process and public call for art when it was painted in 2017. The Woodlawn tower will use the same artists but not the same graphic. This design will be determined by the Design Committee; comprised of Moorhead City Council members, Arts and Culture Commissioners, Moorhead Public Service Commissioners, and members of the community.
